Key membership representative of
registered Maori physiotherapists, pharmacists, podiatrists, dieticians, occupational therapists, osteopaths, dental therapists, dental hygienists, psychologists, speech language therapists, psychotherapists, alcohol and drug, social workers and counsellors across all regions of Aotearoa (New Zealand).
Nga Pou Mana includes and encourages memberships from other health associates (e.g., cultural therapists/practitioners) who are not formally registered or umbrelled by another professional body, but wish to be supported, linked to other health professionals and to network.
What are we about?
Nga Pou Mana Maori Allied Health Professionals Aotearoa (Inc) is a national organisation comprising of an inter-professional Maori health collective with membership that represents Maori allied health professionals including health social workers who have a relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent) as defined in s12(2)(a-e) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 or Social Workers Registration Act 2003 No.17, Public Act; have a regular system for monitoring ongoing competence; abide by professional standards of practice; and abide by a professional code of ethics.
The organisation is for Tino Rangatiratanga, Tikanga, Mana, Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga of Maori Allied Health Professionals. Nga Pou Mana provides a forum to discuss Maori Allied Health professional issues within and between professions.

- to share resources, information and experience,
- to monitor Maori participation in allied health professions through workforce development,
- to increase membership, recruitment, retention of Maori allied health workforce,
- enhance professional development, training and cultural competence within practice,
- develop reciprocal key partnerships with health, education, community, government sectors, professional associates and bodies, provide advice to ministers and ministries to meet the objectives and vision of this organisation.
